Champions: Men's Basketball

by James McGrath

The NYUAD Falcons Men's Basketball team captured their fifth Championship in six years to continue their run as ADISL's most successful team.

The 48 - 32 victory over Khalifa University started out slowly as both teams struggled to find any offensive flow. Midway through the third quarter the Falcon's flipped the switch and the usual aggressive defense and crisp passing had them finish the third quarter off with a 10 - 4 run to enter the final frame with a ten point lead.

KU made a game of it by scoring the first four points of the quarter, however, the defensive pressure spear-headed by Senior Davis Teague started to force turnovers at a high rate. A huge 3-point basket by Senior Miha Klasinc broke opened the fourth quarter scoring for the Falcons and from there the Falcon's ripped off 10 straight points to put the game away.

Senior Will Young led the team with 21 points and Teague added 11. The Falcons also dominated on the boards at both ends of the court with Young grabbing 25 rebounds and Senior Nick White collecting 12.

The Falcons will now play in the HESF National Semi-finals in early April as they attempt to win their first UAE National title.
